One of the largest pieces we’ve ever turned and certainly one of the most characterful (and challenging!)
In 202, we watched this Oak Burr being sliced off as the first cut of an English Oak log from Staffordshire. Since then we’ve had it drying in our workshop until turning it in 2024.
The piece shows all the classic character of an Oak Burr - bark inclusion, pippy knots, colour formations and wonderful swirling grain. We’ve kept as much of the natural character as possible, including stable cracks and voids in the bark.
A truly one-off piece we’re unlikely to ever have in the workshop again!
